12. CWCA Water Softener

Ion Exchange salt or potasuim fed meter controlled level 12 commercial water softener. We put in 48,000 grains of  10 cross resin.  Best made in its life expectancy and holding a charge. Resin typically lasts 10 years.  This process removes heavy metals and minerals such as calcium and magnesium.  Any sodium ions introduced to the water in transfer for the hardness ions will be easily removed through the RO process as the TDS aren’t reduced, only the hardness of the water is.

Water Softeners are often used to:

?????Reduce the level of “Hardness” in process water chiefly consisting of Calcium Carbonate and Magnesium Carbonate, among other

?????Prevent the deposit of “Hardness” minerals on downstream equipment and plumbing in the form of Scale

?????Split Ammonia from Chloramine (emerging substitute for chlorine disinfection in municipal product water) leaving Chlorine to be removed by a downstream Activated Carbon Filter.

Water Hardness, while not generally hazardous when consumed by humans, may be hazardous, or destructive to equipment and processes. Calcium and Magnesium Carbonate in unacceptable concentrations may cause mineral scaling with can foul Reverse Osmosis (RO) Membrane Elements, restrict and clog plumbing and piping, inhibit effectiveness of surfactants, and other chemical reactions. Our Water Softeners employ “Ion Exchange”, or IX resin beads, which soften the water by exchanging hardness ions from Calcium and/or Magnesium with either Sodium or Potassium ion Advantages of Water Softeners Include:

?????Reduction of Scaling and Fouling in downstream Piping, Plumbing, and Equipment

?????Protect Reverse Osmosis (RO) Membranes from Scaling and premature replacement

?????Reduced cost of Chemicals, especially Detergents by increasing their effectiveness
