5. Contact Tank Ozone Treatment

A Corona discharge OZONE system infuses the water and extends its effectiveness in a contact tank. Makes subsequent filtration more effective. Ozone will further Guard against and disinfect bacteria, achieve viral and Cyst inactivation.  It will oxidize inorganic such as Iron, Manganese, Organically bound heavy metals, Cyanides, Sulfides, Nitrites, and Arsenic. It will further oxidize organics such as Phenols, Color taste and odor, some pesticides and detergents, and–Trihalomethane control and biofoul deterrent the use of ozone in the treatment of drinking water is not a new technique. It is estimated that ozone is now used in over 3000 municipal drinking water installations world wide. The treatment offers a number of advantages over the traditional use of chlorine, most notably in the improvement of taste, odor and appearance. Allied to this is the ability to kill bacteria and inactive viruses more effectively than any chemical. It also reduces heavy metals found in drinking water, such as iron and manganese, to safer levels through oxidation. This all occurs within a process that is environmentally friendly, and which has oxygen as its main by-product. Ozone treatment negates the danger of tri-halo-methane (THM?s) forming, making it a safer method as well as one which improves quality.

The Ozone Process Works In Two Easy Steps

5-1

1) Ozone Injection/Oxidation:
Ozone is a tri-atomic oxygen (O3) which has very high oxidizing power. It is a gas produced from air and high voltage electricity. The injection of the ozone into the water. Tiny ozone bubbles saturate every drop of water. At this point oxidation of iron, sulfur and manganese is immediate.

2) Aeration:
The elimination (off gassing or venting) of the ozone and other gasses/odors such as sulfur. This occurs by an ozone stripping action. As water flows down the Off Gas Tank, ozonated water rises and strips any gas in the incoming water. We have designed exclusive Self-Cleaning and Maintenance Free vent devices.
