Ionizer. In tank (Nion Electron-Emitting Device) applies molecular resonance, major properties of the polymer, to emitting electrons into water. Water molecules, which have low ionization potential, gain an extra electron easily. On the basis of the nature of water, NEED raises quality of water by supplying extra electrons to spark reduction reaction. Electrons break hydrogen bonds between water molecules. Therefore, to decrease the size of water molecular clusters, supply of extra electrons is a feasible way. NEED-treated water has proven to contain smaller water molecular clusters (6-8 molecules per cluster) due to its capability to supply electrons. Penetration and extraction rates are raised by the property as well. Great amounts of extra electrons have a long-lasting effect on ionization of minerals (micro elements) existing in water (if any). Ionized minerals are easier for the human body to absorb. Composed of 70 percent water, human body needs clean and nutritious water to function properly. Measurement of Water Molecular Clusters
Water is a network of hydrogen-bonded molecular clusters – groups of watermolecules linked together. 17O Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Full-WidthHalf-Maximum (17O NMR FWHM) value is an important measure of the sizeof water clusters. The value reflectsforce between water molecules. Theforce positively correlates with the size of water clusters. Accordingly, thelower the FWHMvalue is, the smaller the clusters are, or vice versa. Normatap water has a FWHM value from 100 to 150 Hz that indicates each of thewater clusters contains 13 to 18 water molecules. The following test result conducted by the Department of Applied Chemistry
of Chiao Tung University, Taiwan shows NEED’s capability to decrease thesize of water molecules. In accordance with the test, the FWHM value of anuntreated mineral water sample is 109.55 Hz, while that of an NEED-treatedmineral water sample is 70.60 Hz. Analysis of the result suggests the water clusters of the NEED-treated mineral water contain 6 to 8 water molecules
